The controversy over the FDA’s approval of Aducanumab for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease continues – both over the evidence supporting the drug’s efficacy as well as the FDA’s approval process. Some insurers have declared their ambivalence about paying for the medication, and several prominent health systems have said that they will not administer it.

In this week’s Medical Grand Rounds, Gil Rabinovici (Professor in the Department of Neurology) and Rita Redberg (Professor in the Division of Cardiology at UCSF Health) will discuss the clinical and biomarker evidence for disease modification by aducanumab and explain the regulatory issues of accelerated approvals and the Medicare coverage process for injectable drugs. The session will be guest moderated by Dept. of Neurology chair Andy Josephson.

Note: Closed captions will be available within 48-72 hours after posting.
