Residents began rebuilding their homes on Thursday, using their charred materials after a fire destroyed dozens of shacks and left about 400 people homeless.
A community leader, who also lost her home in a blaze once, said there is enough City of Cape Town-owned land in Imizamo Yethu to build formal housing for residents.
