In the context of jail, prisons, and places like Rikers Island, theres a tendency to prematurely assume guilt. The conditions of Rikers Island and the overall criminal justice system highlight the urgent need for change. Democrats call for a comprehensive overhaul of the USA criminal justice system. Its crucial to recognize that such divisions of us versus them are illusions. Todays us could easily be tomorrows them.
