I went into The Brutalist expecting pure Oscar bait.
Three and a half hours.
Post–World War II drama.
Adrian Brody playing a Jewish immigrant artist.

But instead of checking boxes, this film stuck with me for an entire year and I finally understand why.

The Brutalist is a story about extremes:
- Art without humanity
- Money without soul
- Creativity without responsibility
- Power without meaning

Through Lazlo Toth and Harrison Van Buren, the movie explores the collision between art and product, beauty and function, and the addictive pull of greatness. Their obsessions destroy everything around them, including the people they claim to love.

And then there’s the meta layer:
Brutalist architecture itself.
Modernism stripped to the bone.
Cold, honest, beautiful… and completely inhuman.

This video breaks down why The Brutalist is one of the most thought-provoking films of the decade, what its ending means, and why it might be the most powerful exploration of the balance between art and life I’ve ever seen on screen.

Have you seen The Brutalist?
What hit you the hardest?
Let me know in the comments — I’d love to hear your take.
