Fun project with some interesting challenges and a few wrong turns. But in the end it all fell into place and I'm quite happy with how it works and the semi-temporary way I've set it up in my shop. I say "temporary" because I'm still trying to work out how my shop will be laid out for the next few years. I'm seriously considering ditching the miter saw and the miter saw station, but only after I build a NEW table saw with a sliding table, similar to the one I made way back when I first started making embarrassingly crappy videos here on YouTube.
Anyway, the lift works great and as a router table I think it can replace my "old" one, since I almost never use it for heavy work. And I think that's the use-case for this one: medium duty - not exactly Fisher Price and not exactly Festool, but somewhere in between.
I'm sure I'll get comments on the video asking about the plastic melting when the router gets hot. This wasn't meant to be a super heavy duty application and shouldn't be running long enough for a trim router to overheat. Remember I had this same router in my "old" metal cutting CNC mounted in 3D printed holders and worked perfectly fine. That often ran for 30 - 40 minutes at a stretch and never got above just warm.
