In my Baldi's Basics fan adaptation (BBILT), Baldi isn't some sadistic person who enjoys hurting people like many people interpret, instead, but instead has some anger issues he's got to sort out, and he does in fact feel bad for his not ok actions. Which he does sort out later in the story.

This audio fit this aspect of the story well, so yee
