Wanted to do a better recording of the new tune, "Ilm", and also experiment with an old mic setup, using my Zoom recorder as an acoustic/room mic and blended with the 57 in front of my cab. Funnily enough, I feel that while the newer tunes I'm writing can be played with a band...many of them are feeling really solid as solo guitar music.
For those curious, "Ilm" means "knowledge" in Arabic. In Sufi tradition, it also refers to inner and outer sacred knowledge via direct, experiential spiritual wisdom. There's a lot of context and information to dive into from that angle (and I hate being reductionist), but it felt fitting given the tune!
In true Murphy's Law fashion, the camera died at the end, but I still managed to snag a bit more of the tune before realising what happened. Enjoy!
