An Illinois Catholic bishop, a Lutheran nursing home, and four doctors are taking the state to federal court over its new assisted-suicide law.

The plaintiffs argue the law forces doctors and health care institutions with religious or conscience objections to help facilitate assisted suicide. Bishop Thomas Paprocki says Catholic health care must remain free to serve the sick and dying according to its faith and commitment to human dignity.
