This week, I'm sharing my "I'll Never Smile Again" ukulele jazz cover! Played on my Lanikai spruce top baritone ukulele. Once again, I'm revisiting an old series I did called "Abi Gets REAL" in which I shared songs I was learning from the Vocal Real Book. It's fun to look back and see how my voice has changed in the past few years! A few areas where I see growth:
-I have SO much more experience with my uke now! So the whole instrumental aspect is just a lot quicker and easier for me these days.
-There's a little more depth in my voice now... Part of it is literally just vowel shapes that used to be a little more shallow or phrases that I would close off on early. But part of it is studying with Liz Johnson for a few years :) (By the way, if you're looking for a voice teacher, PLEASE look up Liz at lizjohnsonvoice.com).
-I think I just generally have more confidence, and that comes across vocally.
I'm proud of 2017 Abi, and I'm proud of 2020 Abi.
