After beating her siblings in battle training in hopes of proving herself to her father, Silverpaw looks to her father, Rowantail, for assurance. Instead, he snaps at her, yelling at her for hurting her brother and sister and even blaming her for her mother's death (her mother died giving birth). Silverpaw is taken aback but soon remembers that her father never loved her, never smiled at her. He hated her. He hated her because she looked so much like her mother that it hurt Rowantail to look at her. She comes to a grim realization that she'll never be good enough for him.
