1. Hello! I’d like to hear your thoughts on gauge expectations from previously knit up yarn. I frogged a 2 year old sweater (that had been worn/washed/blocked a couple times), washed the yarn to relax the kinks, dried hanging, and rewound back into skeins - the yarn is “Oh Dang DK” so I feel like that makes a difference here compared to other wools. How would we expect to measure gauge now, as I’m knitting it up again? I’m imaging the rewashing process will not create a “bounce back” to its pre-knit state. What else should I consider? Thanks!!
2. I’m making my way through past videos and enjoying all your tips and linked resources, but haven’t run across this question yet. I have only ever knit top-down sweaters. I really want a couple bottom-up sweaters for my wardrobe (Comebackigan and the Weekender being among them) but I feel pretty intimidated by the process. Do you have any tips for someone doing a bottom up sweater for the first time? Any resources or recommendations for getting over the intimidation factor? Any first bottom up patterns you’d recommend? 3. Hi Andrea! I am happily making progress on my Flock Vest. As I am nearing the finish line of the body I realized that there were quite a few ends to weave in. I did carry yarn but with the given construction, there are more ends to weave in at the end, than say top-down yoke sweater. With worsted weight and three different colors of yarn, what would be a great method and great place to weave in these ends? I am worried that the fabric would become little bulky…, but maybe I shouldn’t worry too much and just do a regular duplicate stitch type of weaving in ends? Thank you in advance. I love knitting my first vest
4. How has learning to sew garments affected the way you design handknits or other choices you make while knitting?
5. Bonus question: Hi Andrea! I love how you’re willing to talk about your other crafts on these knitting videos. I became an avid spinner inspired by you! I’m also interested in sewing, but have never sewn my own clothes before, and this is what my question is about. The pants that you make look “SEW” comfortable (pun intended!) However, I’m a fairly tall person, and even though it seems like the cropped length pants are in style, they’ve never been very comfortable for me. Do the pants patterns that you sew have options for different inseam lengths? Having never made my own pants, I don’t think I would be comfortable modifying a pattern just yet, but would love to make some nice pants that are cute, comfy and custom-fit for me!
