DOG BRUTALLY TORTURED IN ROMANIA - but is rescued by Vets & saved Green World TV 2017-02-07 | On the 31st of January, a dog was brought into Dog Rescue Romania with horrific injuries, a victim of the worst torture. Her leg and tail had been cut off, her teeth extracted with pliers, she had been sexually abused with a knife, her back broken and various other fractures to the mouth and body.This was not an isolated case and the lady who found her, a kind dog feeder, told GreenWorldTV that various mutilated puppies had been left for her over the period of that week.The Daily Mail covered the story where the torturer has been named the Butcher of Bucharest and this film was made to highlight the fact that there are no protection laws for the street dogs in Romania and despite the gravity of this case, next to nothing will happen to bring the perpetrator to justice.The tortured dog has been named Spirit and will remain under the sponsorship of charity IAWPA who plan to help provide funds for her care and assist in her adoption to the UK once she is better.IAPWA (International Aid for the Protection and Welfare of Animals) are a UK charity dedicated to helping animals in need. Due to the cheap standards of fur production in China, real fur can now often be cheaper than fake and is being seen topping off bobble hats, small key-rings and parka jacket collars this year.A way of finding out if your fur is real is to check the base to see if there is skin, see if the hairs are pointy and tapering and also if it burns and smells like keratin which smells like burning human hair.There is no excuse to wear real fur in the 21st century as we are not living as cave men anymore and have a choice. PET DOG SHOT DEAD BY HUNTER Green World TV 2017-09-21 | Valley Calderoni's pet dog was murdered on a hike with her other dogs when a huntsman mistakenly took her dog for a wolf and shot it dead in front of her.She writes: "Today, like any other day, I took my beautiful girl with a teammate and nine other dogs on a regular hike. The hike was amazing; the dogs were so well behaved, training went beautifully. As we were finishing the hike, we were putting the leashes back on the dogs. We were going up a little bank onto an old forest road. I already had two dogs on the leash when I heard the bang, it was so loud, my instinct made me crouch down, then I looked, and I saw 10 feet in front of me my dog shot. She screamed, and looked at her wound with disbelief and then looked at me with the absolute feeling of betrayal. I ran towards her as she stumbled down the road where she collapsed. I tried to save her, I held her, I just knew it was not good. I did not want her to suffer, and I told her "just go, just let go baby girl". She died. I never cried so hard in my life. I was faint; I could not breathe. The amount of pain I feel should never be experienced by anyone, ever, for any reason. A hunter, a trophy hunter killed my dog. I told him " the only thing that can make this better would be if you never, ever take another life again". What kind of human can look in a scope at such beautiful creature and murder it? EMBER THE WOLF SHOT DEAD COTSWOLD WILDLIFE PARK Green World TV 2017-07-24 | Ember, a Eurasian wolf was shot dead Friday the 21st July outside the perimeter of Cotswold Wildlife Park, presumably due to human error. She leaves a litter of puppies without a mother. First-time parents Ash and Ember are recent arrivals at Cotswold Wildlife Park. SHARKS ARE LIKE DOGS - LOVE TO BE TICKLED Green World TV 2017-03-27 | “Love” and “affection” are terms not commonly used to describe encounters with large sharks, but they’re used repeatedly by Jim Abernethy to narrate his recent get-together with a large tiger shark known as Tarantino. The special reunion at Tiger Beach in the Bahamas was videotaped and footage shows Tarantino swimming into the arms of Abernethy, and seeming to crave his caresses much like an affectionate dog craves those of its owner after a prolonged absence. As Abernethy and the shark are swept down current, he returns to the camera and Tarantino follows, again swimming into his arms. This happens twice in the footage.“I could tell she had missed it,” Abernethy says of an apex predator he refers to as an “old friend.”To be sure, Tiger Beach is a special place, known as a destination where close encounters can be enjoyed in what many consider to be a relatively safe environment.The predators are fed during commercial dive operations, and many distinctive sharks have been given names.Veteran divers such as Abernethy, who runs Jim Abernethy’s Scuba Adventures, claim to have developed special relationships with some of those sharks.Though there are bound to be critics of people “tempting fate” with such close interactions, Abernethy, who was once bitten by a lemon shark, was hoping his footage would send a message.“I wish there was some way that I could get the world to see what these beautiful creatures are really like,” he says, “so we could end the needless slaughter and keep our oceans healthy, not only for them but for our own existence on the planet.”

Leopards are often poached, skinned for ceremonial accouterment, hunted for trophies, and slayed when they encroach on livestock.Leopards have strong territorial instincts. They have been known to roam nearly 75 miles to return to their home turf.The Leopard’s scapula has evolved to support exceptionally strong neck and shoulder muscles that enable the cat to kill large prey easily and drag the prey up trees to shield it from other hungry predators.Roughly 11,000 leopards remain in India.Leopards’ global range has been reduced by 85% of what it was historically in Eurasia and by 66% of its historical range in Africa.The leopard’s name comes from the ancient Greek words pard for panther and the Latin leo for lion. BABY RHINOS SLAUGHTERED FOR THEIR HORNS Green World TV 2017-02-23 | On the evening of Monday 20th February, Thula Thula Rhino Orphanage was targeted by a gang of seven poachers.The gang subjected the rhino care workers to a horrific attack, one female staff member reportedly sexually assaulted, before turning their attention to the rhinos. Unfortunately two of the rhino orphans were left dead, Impy and Gugu, with their horns removed.The horns of the babies were the largest in the orphanage, yet still really small as far as rhino horns go showing the extremes that poachers are going these days to secure the valuable horn to trade on the black market."As a rhino person who's rehabilitating rhinos in this poaching crisis, you think that your worst fear is that one of the rhino that you're working on is going to be shot or injured or killed," Karen Trendler, the director of Thula Thula, said in an interview with journalist and conservationist Bonne de Bod . "So that worst nightmare was realised … it's just beyond comprehension."Gugu immediately died after being shot, but Impy remained alive, despite being badly injured."They did deface him [Impy] while he was still alive, and it was so bad that he had to be euthanized," Karen Trendler said"Impy survived a particularly brutal poaching, he stayed at his mother's carcass for six days, moving away just a short distance to eat … because he was obviously very hungry and very thirsty.
