One of the most sacred months in the Islamic calendar, Ramadan is observed as a month of fasting, reflection, and prayer. Many Muslims fast from food and drink (including water) from dawn until some time around sunset. Duke's Center for Muslim Life holds Iftar dinners, which break the daily fasts, on Monday through Thursday during Ramadan. Duke Chapel recently sponsored one of the Iftar meals.
