If your Surron makes a noise like this… don’t ignore it. Prepare for the worst.
In this video I start by demonstrating a horrible metal grinding noise coming from the bike — and straight away I knew something wasn’t right. After ruling out the obvious, it could only be coming from one of two places… the motor or the jack shaft.
And if it’s the jack shaft bearing — you’re in for one of the hardest, most frustrating jobs you can do on these bikes.
So I strip the entire rear end down.
Wheel off.
Swingarm off.
Jack shaft disconnected.
What I found? Completely destroyed bearings that had basically disintegrated.
Left any longer, this could have:
Damaged the sprockets
Wrecked the chain
Destroyed the jack shaft
Or worst case… completely seized the drivetrain
While the back of the bike was apart, I decided to make the most of it.
✔️ Upgraded to a red anodised rear triangle linkage
✔️ Installed a Baja-style front headlight
✔️ Replaced the jack shaft bearings properly
✔️ Reassembled everything and tested it
