Frisco Municipal Court: 970-668-3579
11/22/23 Dillon, CO
I was arrested on a limited extradition warrant from Frisco Municipal Court and I was transported to the Summit County Jail.
11/23/23 (Thanksgiving day)
I was transported from the jail to St. Anthony Hospital for cardiac symptoms. (I have a severely damaged lung thanks to a case of mistaken ID by Denver PD)
I refused to sign consent forms and was returned to the jail.
I was released on $1000 bail and given a court date for December 6, 2023.
12/6/23
I reported as ordered to Frisco Municipal Court located inside Frisco Town Hall. I was informed that there was no court that day, there was no pending charge against me, and there was no need to reschedule because there wasn't any case.
I pressed for an explanation for why I was arrested and I was told that I had failed to appear on a summons for an unspecified parking ticket.
I asked for clarification and the Town clerk said she thought it was for an abandoned vehicle tag that had been placed on my truck the previous year. I reminded her that I had showed up to court and she agreed that she remembered speaking to me on the date of that court appearance.
I was not scheduled for a court appearance. The Town clerk attributed the situation to an error on the part of the jail staff.
----
I requested the warrant and this video shows what happened when I finally saw it-- the charge listed was trespassing at the bus station. I was unhoused at the time, but I owned a car, a truck, and an RV, and I spent zero time at the bus station. Nobody has ever called the police on me at the bus station. I have not ever been accused of loitering there. I have never had anything approaching a criminal charge or a court date for trespassing there.
The warrant was not related to a parking ticket, even though the suggestion of that was the closest thing to an explanation that I got from the arresting officer, the jail, the municipal court, or the county court.
for the record, issuing an extradition warrant for anyone ever over a parking ticket would be a lunatic abuse of a municipal Magistrate's authority.
but there was no parking ticket. it was simply a phantom charge that was never filed, for an incident that never occurred.
as far as I can tell, they just wrote my name on a warrant for some other homeless person, and that is why I spent part of my Thanksgiving day in jail.
this follows a 2022 incident where the Frisco PD arrested me for driving with fraudulent plates. video evidence proves that I showed the officer proof that my plates were legitimate. The same warrantless affadavit used in my arrest states "I mistakenly believed the plates had been switched."
