If you take moral issue with the concept of a dog being strung up somewhere dead to be someone else's meal, but do not take moral issue with other animals being in that situation, you may be feeling a veil slip, which is that of social norms. Social norms sometimes make things feel more comfortable, even when we don't have a moral justification for engaging in said action. Those dogs were individuals. They had interests, they felt fear, and probably did in their final moments. But so did these chickens, so did these cows, so did these pigs, these duck. Dogs aren't unique in this. They don't want to be used against their best interests.
