In video taken by another driver, an ongoing road rage incident comes to a scary climax when a vehicle can be seen blocking off a minivan and stopping traffic on a busy freeway. The driver of the first car then gets out and assaults the driver of the minivan, an elderly male, multiple times through the window and then unlocks and opens the door to gain further access to the vehicle and driver. The driver of the minivan attempted to escape at one point but was effectively blocked in by traffic leaving him no where to go. The elderly driver fortunately only sustained minor injuries and was treated and released at a local hospital.
If they’d only had a Byrna… he driver of the minivan could have used a Byrna CL or SD from inside the vehicle to stop the assailants advance. One option would have been to use kinetic rounds, followed by Byrna Max rounds in the same magazine—first to force the assailant to back away from the window, and then to incapacitate him, allowing the senior driver to then escape the area. While the driver of the minivan could have kept his window closed during the entire altercation, having an effective means to stop this attackers advance if he had broken that window may have allowed him time to escape. Remember, if you find yourself in a road rage altercation, the number one goal is to leave the area, even if that means breaking a traffic law or driving on a sidewalk to do it.
