If the Shroud of Turin was created by a medieval artist, why would some of its most fascinating details only become clearer through photography, UV light, microscopy, and image analysis?

The face appears clearer in photographic negative.
Researchers have discussed serum rings under UV light.
The body image appears superficial on the linen fibres.
And the image does not behave like normal painted artwork.

I’m not putting anyone down who thinks it’s medieval — I’m simply asking the question:

Why hide the best details?
