The IEC has rejected the ANC's "technical glitch" excuse after the party missed the hard deadline for candidate nominations in several Eastern Cape municipalities, despite the online system being open since June 21st, over two months before the cut-off. The ANC also dropped 350+ councillor candidates after last-minute vetting uncovered criminal records and missing qualifications. This could leave them locked out of contesting entire wards on November 4th.
Meanwhile, the Madlanga Commission heard testimony from retired Lieutenant General Dr. Godfrey Lebeya that directly contradicts General Sonona's earlier account of when he learned 541kg of cocaine went missing from Port Shepstone DPCI offices, plus questions over Sonona requesting polygraph tests for everyone except himself, despite holding the strong room keys. And Major-General Feroz Khan's postponement request revealed a sick note with an incapacity date allegedly altered to land one day before he was shot.
