We are proud to partner with Sree Sreenivasan, Digimentors, Stroke Onward and the Indian Journal of Medical Ethics (published by the Forum for Medical Ethics Society) to bring you this very important virtual discussion on the challenges of recovery after a stroke.
Four of the speakers are from India: Dr. Sanjay Nagral, a surgeon and Chairperson, Forum for Medical Ethics; Dr. Charumati Raghavan, a neuropsychologist at Poona Hospital & Research Centre; Dr. Vikram Huded, president of the Indian Stroke Association and Vidya Bhandary, a caregiver for a stroke survivor.
Mukul Pandya, a stroke survivor and Stroke Onward board member, who is based in the U.S. will also participate.
Other speakers will include Debra Meyerson and Steve Zuckerman, co-authors of “Identity Theft: Rediscovering Ourselves After Stroke” and co-founders of Stroke Onward. Debra is a former Stanford professor and stroke survivor. Steve is her husband and carepartner.
Liz Wolfson, CEO of Stroke Onward will also join the conversation to share resources available to survivors, family members and others.

When a stroke takes away the abilities that define us — our work, our passions, the ways we connect with the people we love — the hardest part of recovery is often not physical.
It is the struggle to answer the question: who am I now? This event will bring together the stories of survivors, family members, advocates and medical professionals to illuminate the emotional and psychological dimensions of recovery that medical care too often overlooks.
