Frédéric Grillot, enseignant-chercheur en photonique et en communications optiques à Télécom Paris : Les communications optiques en espace libre permettent de transmettre de grandes quantités de données, particulièrement dans la gamme de longueurs donde de linfrarouge moyen, qui offre des avantages notables pour les liaisons soumises à des conditions météorologiques variables ou dégradées. Malgré leurs nombreux avantages, ces liens ne bénéficient pas de la protection des données assurée par la couche physique du canal de propagation. La diffusion croissante dinformations sensibles et la menace constante de la cybercriminalité rendent nécessaire la recherche de solutions ingénieuses pour garantir la sécurité des données. Dans une récente publication dans Optica, une équipe de Télécom Paris a relevé ce défi en démontrant une méthode de cryptage par chaos. Ils ont prouvé lapplicabilité de ce système sur une distance de 30 mètres dans l’infrarouge lointain.
Cette configuration est idéale pour des applications où la protection des messages transmis est cruciale, mais où des débits de données élevés ne sont pas indispensables, telles que les applications militaires ou la transmission sol-satellite.")
