Ngo Bao Chau, professor at the University of Chicago, is interviewed by Atish Dabholkar, Director of ICTP, and Claudio Arezzo, Head of the ICTP Mathematics section.

In this conversation, they discuss the fundamental lemma of Langlands Theory, for which Châu was awarded the Fields medal in 2010. They also talk about the role that institutes such as ICTP and the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) in Hanoi have been playing in advancing science globally.

The conversation took place in May 2023, when Châo visited the Centre to take part in the yearly ICTP Scientific Council meeting.
