today it happens, Ash's journey ends and as I am typing this I am crying. Ash means the world to me. He's been by my side since 2001. He has always been there and now we are watching him leave. I originally started making this last year before Ash vs Leon but something within me told me to wait, call it a sixth sense or whatever but I somehow could feel I should wait. And that I did.
I wanted to show off all of Ash's journey and was struggling to find a song, I wanted something badass to show off Ash's evolution, but none of the songs fit what I was looking for and I had edited him using songs like Hall of fame and High hopes before. And as if Arceus heard my prayers simple plan dropped this song and when I listened to it and I just KNEW I found the song, I've found the song that describes Ash's journey to become the very best like no one ever was.
so to Ash: honestly thank you, there is a lot of things I could say. I could talk about how thanks to you I fell in love with animation, thanks to you I fell in love with pokemon, thanks to you I started editing and found people I love and something I love doing more than ANYTHING else. I could thank you for getting me into writing and story telling. But what I want to thank you for is being by my side all my life, yes I know you're just a fictional ten year old, but what you mean to me and milions all around the world IS real! You raised a generation of kids, you've impacted countless of lives. There are few characters that are even on your level as iconic and you reached this level of icon in the span of 25 years! you and pikachu did that. You were the poster child of the highest grossing franchise in the world, giving even iconic characters that has been around for decades longer than you a run for their money. I've seen the way they've treated your departure and it is fit for the king, no the champion you've become. I do have to say your alola victory will always be something I will always remember. I remember the day so well it was my 20th birthday and I watched it go down I remember crying and despite being in the midst of a very long depressive episode I knew this day would always mean the world to me. But as I am better than ever I am watching you go. You really kept me fighting on from 2016 to 2021 for that you will always be my brother. I remember november 3rd 2022 so well, I sat at school sneaking away from my responsibilites of the day. I sat in the lobby of my college snacking and watching the battle on my iphone 13 mini, rose gold of course. When I realized you had won I was in shock and had to fight myself not to scream out loud or cry, I can't be at my big age freaking out in public over a kids anime. There was a party that day and someone asked me if I was going but I said I couldn't. Quickly I left still in shock somehow I got to the boba place and ordered a drink to process what I had seen. So thank you Ash I will forever love you for everything you have done for me and millions around the world. I will miss you so much but I know it is only a matter of time until you come back, nothing can keep the champion down for too long
besties I am going to be real I have CRIED SO MUCH making this and just in general since we got the news Ash was retiring. I have filmed my reaction to this and another project a bunch of Ash stans and I worked on that caused so much emotonal damage I am considering therapy. You can see tears running down my face and hear in my voice I'm fucking losing it.
