To understand the notion of "metapolitics", we have to go back to France in the second half of the twentieth century. In that period, a group of far-right intellectuals began an ethnonationalist think tank they called "GRECE". Led by Alain de Benoist, these intellectuals came to the conclusion that "the Left" had cultural hegemony in society, and argued that "the Right" should use the methods of the Left to gain societal prominence. As a consequence, they started to use scientific papers, conferences, and other formats to introduce their ideas, and began to transform the meaning of important concepts, like 'democracy'.
