Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown is facing fierce criticism. During a House Judiciary Committee hearing, Ranking Member Jamie Raskin accused ICE and other immigration officers of targeting ordinary people, including U.S. citizens, lawful residents and military families. Raskin cited claims that immigration officers have shot 22 people, killing six, while alleging that more than 50 parents and spouses of active-duty service members have been detained. He also attacked ICE’s enforcement record, pointing to missed detainee pickups and declining fentanyl casework. Raskin further accused Republicans of pushing expanded immigration enforcement while diverting local resources away from fighting violent crime.
