Icarus is a composition by Ralph Towner, performed here in a live recording by the Paul Winter Consort.

This version features improved audio quality and presents the performance with greater clarity and depth.

The song was originally recorded for the album Road (A&M Records, 1968), produced by Phil Ramone. Road later became notable for its cultural impact, including the fact that astronauts carried the album into space, and lunar features were named after compositions from the record.

“Icarus” was later reissued briefly on the album Earthdance in the 1980s, but the original recording remains difficult to find in commercial digital form.
