Introducing the designs for the IBM Quantum System Two, the world’s first modular and 100% customizable quantum computing system. The System Two will contain a three-tiered chandelier capable of housing 3 quantum processors - all held within its scalable, hexagonal cryostat. It’s also possible to link multiple System Two cryostats together, with long-range couplers connecting the quantum processors. Three System Two cryostats connected together will deliver as many as 16,632 qubits—far beyond the size of any quantum system available today. This modularity even extends to the system’s compute and gas handling bank, which is 100% customizable so clients can extend computational capacity by swapping out classical compute racks for AI racks and vice versa. The System Two design also takes human factors into consideration, with convenient pull-out desks and seating built into the system. IBM Quantum System Two is more than just a quantum computer; it’s an essential building block for the quantum-centric supercomputer of the future.
