There’s only one kind of tools that I enjoy buying right now… used, patina, marred tools with a story. I like buying used tools from estate sales so much. Of course I can’t buy all of them but when I go I’m looking for unique tools that I don’t already own. Tools that, I know if I had to purchase new, would cost 10x as much. There’s also something about the hunt. The thrill of finding out what’s in that drawer or tool chest. Seeing someone’s name etched onto the side of a ratchet. It’s the whole package when buying used. And, at the end of the day, you get to actually put these things to use! They aren’t just a bunch of things that sit in a room or a closet, they’re in my hand helping me do work.
