An Indian Breakfast That Turned Into a Street Food Feast!
We head out early in Mysore looking for breakfast — but instead we stumble across something completely unexpected…
On the street, huge pots of food are being prepared for a local festival, with enough food to feed the community for free later that day.
The scale of the cooking is incredible, and somehow I end up getting stuck in and help stir the enormous pots! 😂🇮🇳
Then it’s time for breakfast…
We tuck into a seriously delicious South Indian feast of mutton leg soup, slow-cooked mutton, chicken, liver, intestines, idli, neer dosa and ghee rice.
And because one breakfast clearly wasn't enough, we go for crispy puri, vada and a Mysore masala dosa, finishing with a strong, frothy South Indian coffee.
What started as a simple breakfast turned into an unforgettable morning of street food being prepared in giant cooking pots, incredible flavours, friendly people, a little Kannada and lots of laughter.
As always, there was something colourful and unexpected happening around us.
