I decided to return to a location I photographed around eight years ago, Ardtully House near Kilgarvan in County Kerry.
When I first started photography, I spent a lot of time photographing abandoned buildings around Ireland before seascape photography eventually became my main focus. I always enjoyed finding these old buildings, learning about their history and trying to work out how to photograph them.
So when I was heading through Kerry, I decided to revisit Ardtully and see if that interest was still there.
The photography started well, despite having to deal with harsh midday sunlight, and I found some of the same compositions I remembered from my earlier visits. I also headed across to the old bridge, which gives one of my favourite views back towards the ruined house.
Then I decided to put the drone up.
That is when things took an unexpected turn.
