I was working with one of my students today on #timesignature ... Undoubtedly, one of the most difficult things to understand is how the bottom number of the time signature redefines which note “gets” the beat. This snare drum solo in Anthony Cirone’s “Portraits In Rhythm” really tests that! I challenge you to play and count along! This time I’m not observing repeats, the dynamics and I am accenting the beat to help him push the time against the count.
