Books I found intimidating (and why I didn't need to worry)

I often put off books because of their size or their reputation, thinking I won't understand or enjoy them. And often, when I get round to them, I find I was overestimating the books or underestimating myself, and sometimes they even become my favourite books. So lets talk about what books we're scared of, and ways to get over the hump of intimidation.
