I recorded a recent job interview I had with an AI company as a Physics Domain Expert. I recorded the whole process to show what the experience was like so that others looking for similar Domain Expert roles can know what to expect.
Companies like ScaleAI and Mercor are among the most well-known AI data annotation firms that hire domain experts across many fields to perform reinforcement learning with human feedback, create training data, and overall help frontier AI companies like Anthropic, OpenAI, and DeepMind improve their internal models.
However, investigative journalism by people like Karen Hao and organizations like More Perfect Union have showcased the exploitative nature of these companies, especially with data annotators from the Global South.
I made this video in hopes of drawing more attention to the increase in AI-conducted interviews and the widespread search for talent these AI data companies are conducting to have experts across many domains train AI models.
