🔧 BATTLE MECHANICS
3-minute battle royales, 3 Pokémon brought from 4 Trainers, whoever claims the most KOs wins. Battles are real-time and you run around a map attacking Pokémon and dodging as necessary.
Rather than a limited number of times a Pokémon can use a move as in Scarlet/Violet etc, moves in Z-A have a 'cooldown' time - ie you have to wait before using a move again.
You can switch a different Pokémon in a maximum of 3 times. If one of your Pokémon is knocked out, you receive a brief time-out and then your switch counter is reset.
There are NO Abilities in this game.
Pokémon can Mega Evolve, ie adopt a temporary boosted form, after their meter is charged up by battling and collecting orbs. (No Terastallization or other signature mechanics.)
Red pick-ups temporarily boost offence, blue boost defence, green restores your Pokémons' health bars.
Otherwise mechanics are the same as in traditional Pokémon games: Pokémon and moves have types that match up differently into each other; Pokémon can hold items that have a secondary effect in battle etc.
