I was an appliance repair tech for six years, and I had to do this to reset SO MANY HEATERS for people who didn't realize their hot water needed to be primed before running their dishwasher!
This is definitely more common in the winter (and more common in climates where the tap water gets noticeably colder in the winter), but it's good to know in case your dishwasher suddenly stops heating (or drying the dishes).
