In this full step-by-step guide, I'm showing you exactly how I swapped out the ugly factory base screens for the massive 11.6-inch Premium OEM infotainment screen for ONLY $600 total!
After an "epic fail" trying to piece this together in our last episode, I finally tracked down the exact proper model numbers required to make this head unit plug-and-play. I break down the crucial differences between the DNNS117 (VC650) and DNNS118 (VC600) units so you don't make the same mistakes or waste your money on eBay.
We test EVERYTHING after the install: Apple CarPlay resolution, backup camera trajectory tracks, and the massive upgrade of finally having a touch-screen HVAC fan speed controller. More importantly for the tuners out there—this swap lets you natively monitor live engine data like water temperature and oil temperature right on your dash, freeing up your Cobb Accessport to monitor crucial tuning metrics like fine knock, feedback knock, and DAM.
