Here’s my authentic MOS Technology SID 8580 version of Corneria from Star Fox (SNES)— recreated as if the soundtrack had originally been composed for the Commodore 64.
This is not just “retro-inspired” audio or a fake chiptune effect — the track was made using real SID-style composition techniques and the characteristic sound of the legendary 8580 chip itself, with all its limitations, textures and raw electronic character.
Modern remakes try to make everything bigger and more cinematic.
I wanted to go the opposite way: fewer channels, raw hardware sound, and pure C64 energy.

Heres my C64 SID rendition of Balrogs theme from Street Fighter II!
However, this version isnt based on the original game soundtrack — instead, its inspired by Yūzō Koshiro’s remix from the Street Fighter Tribute Album released in 2003.
I tried to capture the unique vibe of Koshiros version while adapting it to the limitations (and charm!) of the Commodore 64s SID chip.

I recreated the Overworld Theme using the SID chip to capture that nostalgic adventure feel with authentic 8-bit warmth.
The original Super Nintendo soundtrack already feels emotional and full of wonder, so turning it into a C64 SID version was a real passion project for me.
