The Woodland Witch finally gets her familiar! After creating her woodland witch hat, moth cloak, and little hedgehog companion, I set out to bring the final piece of her journey to life: Olivet, a Barn Owl puppet made from scratch. This was my Second attempt at building a puppet. (I know said first in the video but it is my Second one I forgot about the Dragon puppet) The project took me over 211 hours from the first sketches in late April to the finished familiar in July. This project was truly a labor of love, and I’m so excited to finally share Olivet and the final chapter of the Woodland Witch’s story with you. Along the way…

Creating Olivet was a journey of figuring things out as I went, including an unexpected month and a half art block, some changes to her design, and plenty of moments where I had to trust the process. From building her hollow body and hand making her wool feathers to sculpting her feet, creating her tree staff, and finally assembling all of her pieces, this is the final chapter of the Woodland Witch’s story and hopefully a little encouragement to try making something even when you’re not entirely sure how you’re going to pull it off.
