Tonight I am taking a ride on one of Sri Lanka's last remaining Night Mail sleeper trains, travelling from the city of Badulla near the tourist hotspot Ella, and traversing the Sri Lanka Main Line Railway route down to the capital Colombo.

Sri Lankan Railways (SLR) operates a fleet of old sleeper carriages built in Romania by ASTRA Arad, with a unique interior layout. I wasn't sure what to expect from a First Class Berth, but safe to say what I found was an unpleasant surprise!
