Things Get Weird With Free Solo Legend Alex Honnold on a London Cable Car. Alex joins Hannah Morris, presented by The North Face Climb Festival.
This video might be the biggest collaboration we’ve ever filmed for Hannah Morris Bouldering. Today, we’re spending some time with one of the most well known figures in rock climbing: professional climber and The North Face athlete: Alex Honnold.
Over the course of a remarkable career, he’s become best known for climbing cliff faces, or more recently, skyscrapers, without ropes. Almost ten years ago, he achieved mainstream fame as the star of the Academy Award winning Free Solo, a film that told the story of his unroped ascent of Freerider on El Capitan, Yosemite.
Due to the success of Free Solo and more this year, the Netflix livestream of his accent of the skyscraper Taipei 101, he’s risen to a prominence that would have been unthinkable for climbing just a decade ago and that rise to prominence hasn't been gained without ruffling some feathers. This interview was conducted at the North Face Climb Festival in London,
Armed with some iconic British snacks and a handful of notes, I wanted to ask Alex some questions around themes of exploration, exposure, motivation, ego, fame, and building a career as an athlete and a public figure in a sport with roots in anti establishment & counterculture. I hope you enjoy!
It's time to really get to know Alex Honnold and his wildest opinions, in a slightly unconventional interview.
