A client said this to me recently - and I had to stop him in his tracks.
Hold on.
Here was someone who had composed, recorded, mixed, and released an entire body of beautiful work… and he was convincing himself it was an accident?
I actually hear this kind of thing all the time. Someone creates something incredible, then immediately starts doubting whether they can do it again.
But here's the thing: you don't accidentally make an album.
You don't stumble into finishing tracks, solving mix problems, and seeing a vision through to completion.
YOU did that. Step by step, decision by decision, you made it happen.
And when you're ready to start your next project, you're not starting from scratch - you're starting from experience. Corny? Perhaps. But it’s also true. 👏
This is something I work on a lot with the artists in my mentorship program - helping them OWN their brilliance, celebrate their accomplishments, and trust their creative process instead of second-guessing whether they can repeat their successes.
Will you still experience periods of self doubt?
Of course.
BUT - in those moments, please remember that nerves and uncertainty are part of the creative process.
You can let them derail you, or you can simply say “oh, hello again - this must mean I’m right on track.” 😉
