All of my obsession with granular synthesis is owing to Granulator II, a fantastic Max4Live patch by Robert Henke (Monolake). In order to use Granulator II, you need a version of Ableton Live that supports Max4Live. You can download Granulator II here: ableton.com/en/packs/granulator-ii
If you don't use Ableton, but still want to dive into the magical world of granular synthesis there are many other options:

Ive finally gotten around to sampling my beloved Aria Pro II precision bass. Ive used this thing on countless rock songs–always recorded the same way: I mix the sound of the raw DI input with the sound of my Music Man Sixty-Five tube amp.
