I went to the European launch of the Hoosier TrackAttack Pro — the first street-legal semi-slick from a company that has only ever made race tyres. Hoosier has been building racing rubber since 1957 and is the spec tyre supplier for IMSA, SCCA, NASCAR Euro Series, Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux and FIA European Rallycross, among others. Now, after launching in the US in 2024, the TrackAttack Pro is coming to Europe with ECE R117 approval.
We tested it back to back over a full day at Circuit Meppen: slalom in a Honda Civic Type R on TrackAttack Pro versus Nankang CR-S, emergency brake-and-avoid in a BMW M4 on TrackAttack Pro versus Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R, then track sessions in a BMW M3, Mercedes-AMG C43 and Lotus Emira, plus street and autobahn driving.
The headline technical claim is weight: Hoosier says the TrackAttack Pro is roughly 5–30% lighter per tyre than leading UUHP competitors — the 275/35ZR19 comes in around 10.16 kg against a top competitor's 11.79 kg, about a 16% reduction. Less unsprung and rotating mass means better acceleration, braking and transitional response. The tread is a 3-groove asymmetric pattern with 12% surface void, extra-wide shoulder ribs, an optimised centre rib for braking, and a motorsport-derived compound Hoosier calls H-DNA.
On price, Hoosier positions it between the premium and value ends: taking TrackAttack Pro as 100%, Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS sits at 121%, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R at 110%, Nankang CR-S at 88% and Yokohama ADVAN A052 at 81% (Hoosier's own estimates based on public retail pricing, June 2026). The trade-off is tread life — this sits closer to the track end of the spectrum than a typical premium UUHP tyre.
38 sizes are available now, 45 by the end of 2026, from 15" to 21" (currently only 18"–21" are ECE R117 approved).
