I tested an AI robot lawn mower that doesn’t need a boundary wire — just a camera and onboard mapping. So… does it actually work?

In this video, I unbox and test the Yardcare M800Plus robot mower in a real yard here in Virginia. It uses a 135° wide-angle camera and AI recognition to detect lawn edges, avoid obstacles, and map its working area — no perimeter wire required.

I go over setup, charging dock placement, mowing patterns (row + random), obstacle handling, and how it performs in both open and tricky areas. It cuts well and handles slopes and objects surprisingly well — but there are a few limitations you should know about, especially when it comes to unclear lawn boundaries.
