After testing over 140 different 3D printing filaments over the last few years, I've realized something... some of the best materials available today are also the ones that most people completely overlook - or even steer clear of! Whether it's because of outdated advice, old reputations, or simply not enough people talking about them, there are a handful of the best filament types that deserve way more attention than they're getting.
From Nylon filament that's far easier to print than you might think, to carbon fiber composites like PC-CF filament that deliver incredible strength without the premium price tag of PPS-CF, to flexible materials that have completely changed the way I design functional parts, these are the filaments I keep reaching for when I need something to survive real-world use. Not shelf decorations. Not Reddit karma. Actual parts that get used, abused, and keep working.
