Last week I stepped in as a sub bass player on the Mamma Mia UK tour.
One week to prepare.
New bass.
Fretless I wasn’t fully comfortable on yet.
A pedalboard I’d barely used.
And a band who’ve been doing this show for years.
So the real challenge wasn’t just learning the notes…
it was stepping into a machine that’s already running perfectly…
and making it feel like nothing had changed.
