I used to struggle with modifying my references and end up just painting whatever the photo was, even if the design was bad. But over time, I’ve slowly tweaked things and changed things and I’ve gotten better at it. Don’t worry if all you can do is paint whatever is there. There’s nothing wrong with that actually. It’s just part of learning and growing.
