In Hungary, it's a huge challenge to get bats, baseballs, softballs, gloves—everything—so kids can have quality, right-sized equipment to play this game.
I was lucky enough to be a guest coach in Erd, Hungary and my friends at @JustGloves and @justbats sent me with a HUGE care package - gloves and bats of all sizes, so that everyone would have the gear they need to grow with the game.
Terry, the club’s founder, flys to the US a few times a year…he gets strange looks as he returns through customs with gigantic suitcases packed to the brim with baseballs, cleats, gloves, bats, or the occasional pitching machine…Terry does EVERYTHING he possibly can for the kids in his club.
Broken batting tees are welded back together, replacement rubber tops ordered from Temu and re-attached with pipe clamps. Countless bats have no paint left on the barrel, and hand-me-down gloves are the norm. They LOVE the game, and they get creative to repair and replace the equipment they need to keep playing.
Included in the care package were gloves from Rawlings, Wilson, Mizuno @maruccisports and Shoeless Joe - Plus, bats from Louisville Slugger, @WarsticBaseball BambooBat and True Temper. Thank you to everyone for helping to grow the game in Europe by outfitting these young ballplayers in Hungary!
