This 1978 TOMY Merry-Go-Copter might be one of the most mechanically insane toys ever made.

What looks simple at first turns into a full chain-reaction system: a train drops off a passenger, which triggers an elevator, which feeds into a rotating helicopter, which then sends the passenger back to the train to start the cycle all over again. No electronics controlling logic—just pure mechanical engineering.

This one was in rough shape when I got it. The train motor had a completely corroded brush, several gears were damaged, and multiple rollers had to be rebuilt from scratch. After a full teardown, cleaning, and some creative problem-solving, it’s now fully functional again.

Watching it run is something else—this is the kind of toy they simply don’t make anymore.
