Can air conditioning really replace a traditional gas central heating system?
In July 2024 I removed my ageing Worcester Greenstar HE gas boiler as my primary heating system and replaced it with a Fujitsu AIRSTAGE multi-split air-to-air heat pump installation costing just over £10,000.
After living with the system through two winters, one summer, and now another UK heatwave, I wanted to share my real-world experience.
This isn't a sponsored review. I paid for the system myself and these are my genuine thoughts after using it every day.
In this video I cover:
• Why I chose air-to-air instead of an air-to-water heat pump
• Why a traditional ASHP wasn't practical for my house
• SCOP and why efficiency actually matters
• Running costs and electricity usage
• My winter heating bills
• Summer cooling performance
• Noise levels
• Defrost cycles
• The Fujitsu app
• What I'd do differently
• Whether I'd spend £10,000 again
For my house, the combination of solar panels, home batteries and off-peak electricity has made this a fantastic solution.
It's not perfect, but after two years I can finally answer the question...
Was it worth it?
